Former Health CAS Mwangangi, Ingasira in race for SHA CEO position

Former Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi and acting Social Health Authority (SHA) CEO Robert Ingasira are among 12 candidates shortlisted for the position of SHA Chief Executive Officer.
The vacancy arose after the suspension of Elijah Wachira in November 2024 over concerns related to his professional conduct and performance.
The Social Health Authority advertised the position on February 27, 2025, and received 92 applications before closing the application window on March 20, 2025.
From these, 12 candidates were selected for the next stage of the recruitment process.
Among those shortlisted are Kennedy Akello, Roberts Abok, Serem Edward, Wario Tore, Agrippina Fernendes, Abdullahi Abdirahman, Musa Lwegado, Samson Kairang’a, Dinah Kirwa, and Kandie Ng’ochoch.
According to a notice from SHA CEO Abdi Mohammed, the interviews are set for April 7 and 8, 2025, at the authority’s headquarters.
“Applicants should report to the venue 30 minutes before the scheduled time,” the notice stated.
Members of the public have been invited to submit any adverse information about the candidates before the interview dates.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority Board, SHA Building, 10th Floor, Nairobi, or through email to [email protected] to be received on or before 4th April 2025 at 5 pm,” the notice read.
Candidates will be required to bring their original national identity cards, academic and professional certificates, and transcripts.
They must also present clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Higher Education Loans Board, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
For those with foreign degrees, a recognition letter from the Commission for University Education is mandatory.
Applicants should also provide recommendation letters or certificates of good standing from professional bodies if applicable.
SHA, which replaced the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) under the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, began operations on October 1, 2024.
It is tasked with managing public health insurance and ensuring affordable healthcare for citizens and eligible residents.
